Newborn Care – You and Your Baby

This comprehensive class teaches couples what to expect with their newborn. Parents-to be will be prepared for daily care: feeding, sleep, diapering, circumcision and umbilical cord care, bathing and dressing. You will learn what a healthy newborn looks like. We will also discuss temperament, crying and comforting techniques, behavior states, SIDS awareness and prevention, Shaken Baby Syndrome, Back to Sleep, car seat safety and understanding how a newborn communicates. Couples will understand when their baby needs to be seen by their healthcare provider, how to choose a healthcare provider and that each baby and family is unique. The class is interactive and time is alloted for all questions.

Reminder: It is recommended that you take the Childbirth and Breastfeeding classes before the Newborn Care class, as each class builds upon the other.
