Tour Our Family Birth Center
Visit our new family birth center and we think you'll agree that it is the most beautiful and relaxing center of its kind around the region. We've spent time planning for all the amenities that can make that lifetime event as special as it can be and built our center with everyone's comfort in mind.
As patients or visitors enter the new center, a donor wall is displayed, featuring a waterfall next to the beautifully decorated family waiting area. Next to it is a glassed-in gift shop, packed full of baby goodies for new families and friends. The center is secured for newborns' protection and a glass door partitions the waiting area from the rest of the center. A buzzer announces guests, and the greeter, available 24-hours a day, allows visitors entrance.
Next, visitors will notice the wood grain cherry and oak with teal accent marble flooring. Large windows flood the birthing rooms with natural light. Shades of rose, burgundy, wheat and sage pattern the walls. Floral fabrics grace the chairs, sofas and window swags. Cherry furniture, including a burl finish armoire for the TV and VCR, complete the homey, inviting birthing rooms. There's even a place for the glider-rocking chair that's just perfect for mom, dad or grandma to feed baby or sing lullabies to their new family member.
Wilson's family birth center has all the amenities in a beautifully decorated and furnished building that is connected yet separate from the hospital. Patients and visitors can come in a separate entrance...it's more like a lovely hotel, a place of wellness. We know that having a baby is not an illness, it's a natural event, and so we've provided a place that supports that notion. It's the kind of place every new mom wants and now every new mom can have with the birth of her baby. Inside, the spacious nurses station is done in a rich burgundy, with a bright and cheery nursery featuring a circus motif, right across the hall. A large, glass window allows grandma and friends a great view of newborns. There are even two additional windows that go down to the floor for little brothers and sisters to see in easily. The center is equipped with a caesarean section surgery area and four post-partum/surgery rooms. Ten beautifully decorated birthing suites are available with waiting alcoves outside for family members. The center also boasts an eating area with a floor to ceiling bowed window.
Each private birthing room is spacious, beautifully decorated with warm wood grained floors and cherry furniture. The draperies, blinds and convertible daybeds, available for an overnight guest, are decorated in lovely fabrics in shades of sage, wheat, rose and burgundy. Waiting alcoves are outside the birthing suite, providing family members and friends close access while mother is busy.
There's a nourishment room that has been especially designed just for moms and dads. A large family and friends waiting area is available providing comfort and refreshments while awaiting the birth of their newest addition. Everyone's comfort is noted and considered. A whimsically decorated nursery in lemon yellow with circus motif wall borders house babies in their cherry wood cribs when they are away from moms when necessary. The center features 10 birthing suites, four recovery and postpartum rooms for moms who have had a caesarean section, and three observation rooms. The surgery/C-section area is convenient to the nursery and the postpartum rooms. The birthing suites all have private restrooms, and the birthing suites feature large, walk-in showers in the spacious restrooms. One of the birthing suites even features a whirlpool tub.
The nursing station is large and spacious with a central fetal monitoring system. Portable fetal monitors are in cherry wood casings and allow clinicians the opportunity to view all monitors in the center at once. The system is also available in the doctors' lounge and each doctor's office. The information technology is state of the art.
The birthing and postpartum rooms all have a large burl grained armoire, with ample room for clothing and of course a TV and DVD player. The wall-coverings are either wheat or sage and the fabrics are wheat, sage, rose and burgundy. Each room has a framed print of a mother and child that slides over the oxygen panel and other equipment that may be needed during delivery. The comfortable wood rocking chair gives baby a smooth ride while mom, dad, sibling or grandparent is feeding or holding their new family member.
