Meet Our Hospitalist Team

	Frederick Simpson, M.D, Medical Director Dr. Simpson has served as medical director for the hospitalist program at Wilson Memorial since 2011. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1996, boosted by an Bachelor of Arts in Zoology and a minor in Political Science from Miami University. He then completed residency in Family Medicine at University of Cincinnati. Dr. Simpson achieved board certification in Family Medicine in 1998. Dr. Simpson joined Wilson Memorial Hospital in 1998 and currently serves as Vice Chief of Staff and chair of Pharmacy and Therapeutics. Dr. Simpson also serves as Medical Director for Wilson Care, LLC and Heritage Manor Nursing Center. He has served as Chief Deputy Coroner for Shelby County since 2005.
	Barbara A. Hill, M.D. Dr. Hill is an internal medicine specialist with Wilson Care, Inc. Internal Medicine Group. She provides the diagnosis and treatment of adult medical conditions, as well as preventive care. Dr. Hill obtained her medical degree from Wright State University. She completed her internal medicine residency at Miami Valley Hospital. Dr. Hill’s medical education also includes a psychiatric residency at The Ohio State University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University. She is board-certified and specializes in diagnosing, treating and managing acute and chronic medical conditions including diabetes, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression and mood disorders, as well as general adult medical care.
	Rudy J. Bohinc, M.D. Dr. Bohinc is an internal medicine specialist with Wilson Care, Inc. Internal Medicine Group. He has been with the group since 2002. He received his medical degree from Cebu Doctor’s College of Medicine, Cebu City, Phillipines. Dr. Bohinc completed an internal medicine residency through Kettering Medical Center. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, Ohio State Medical Association and the Montgomery County Medical Society.
	Remon Obeid, M.D. Dr. Obeid is board certified in internal medicine and is also board eligible in nuclear cardiology. He has been practicing medicine for over 20 years. He received earned his medical degree in 1986 in Syria followed by an internship at the University Hospitals of Tishreen. He earned his diploma of cardiology fom the University of Nancy II, in France. Dr. Obeid completed a three-year internal medicine residency at UPMC-McKeesport, Pennsylvania, in 2000. He then practiced internal medicine in the Ohio cities of Ashland, Canton and Akron, moving to Sidney to practice in 2002.
	Philip Lamptey, M.D. Dr. Lamptey is a full-time hospitalist at Wilson Memorial. He is board-certified in internal medicine. Dr. Lamptey received his medical degree from University of Ghana Medical School followed by a combined internal medicine-pediatrics residency at Hurly Medical Center - Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Society of Hospital Medicine.

What is a Hospitalist?

A Hospitalist is a medical doctor who provides care to patients while they are in the hospital. A Hospitalist physician, in cooperation with your personal doctor, will take care of you during your hospital stay and will monitor your care 24 hours a day.

Who are the Hospitalists at Wilson Memorial Hospital?

Your Hospitalist team includes well-respected and experienced physicians, all of whom specialize in Internal Medicine. Frederick Simpson, M.D., is the medical director of the program. All are specialists in internal medicine and have many years of experience treating patients in and out of the hospital. The Hospitalist program also includes a liaison, Linda Maurer, R.N., M.S.N., Vice President of Patient Care Services. She can be reached at 937-498-5383.

How does the Hospitalist concept work?

When you require hospitalization, your regular physician normally coordinates your admission with the Hospitalist. If you are treated and admitted through the emergency room, the Hospitalist will coordinate your care and treatment while you are hospitalized. The Hospitalist communicates with your primary care physician in either case, but handles your care during time spent in the hospital instead of your doctor. The Hospitalist will ensure that all medical history is received from your doctor and that all information about your medical condition needed is available to your doctor. The Hospitalist communicates directly with patients and their family members to make sure all treatments and care are understood throughout your stay at Wilson Memorial Hospital.

What will the Hospitalist do while I am in the hospital?

The Hospitalist:

assesses and treats your medical condition;
coordinates your hospital care throughout your stay;
orders needed diagnostic tests such as X-rays, blood tests, imaging tests or other procedures;
arranges for additional physician specialists for consultation if indicated;
arranges therapy or other specialized treatments as needed;
works with nurses and other healthcare providers to ensure quality service;
discusses all treatment and care with patients and family members;
keeps your personal physician apprised of your progress; and
transitions your medical care back to your physician who will resume responsibility of your care after your discharge.

What are the benefits of the Hospitalist program?

Hospitalists are very familiar with the hospital and its systems and functions, as well as the nurses and staff on the inpatient units. They provide quality, focused care to hospitalized patients. They are available for in-hospital patient care and can check on each patient’s progress as often as needed. Patients and family members have more access to Hospitalists since they are readily available. Each patient’s regular physician receives updates about treatments and progress on a regular basis while hospitalization occurs.
